Preoperative Instructions

The Night Before Surgery:

  • If you take daily medication, check with our facility about what to do the morning of your surgery regarding your medication.

  • You may not eat or drink past midnight. If your surgery is scheduled for 6:30 am then nothing past 10:30 pm the night before. If you do, your appointment will be rescheduled. Should you have a child complaining of thirst or hunger, please contact the center for instructions.

The Morning of Your Surgery:

  • Patients with facial piercings may be asked to remove them before surgery, even if it is a new piercing.

  • Be at the facility at the time given to you. Your surgery could be canceled if you do not arrive in adequate time.

  • Wear clothing that is comfortable and warm, and that is a short sleeve, so we have access to your arms.

  • If you wear glasses, or hearing aids, bring along a case to store them in while you are in surgery.

  • If you wear dentures, removable bridgework, etc., they must be removed before surgery or as designated by Anesthesia Department policy.

  • If you have a cold, a fever of 100 degrees F or higher, a skin rash, or an infection of any kind please notify the surgery center before coming in for surgery. Your surgery may be rescheduled for patient safety.

  • Smokers should not smoke for 24 to 48 hours before surgery, to enhance breathing.

  • Children under the age of 10 or those with special needs may need a change of clothing due to possible accidents that may occur under general anesthesia. Please bring an extra set of clothes or put the child in a diaper/pullup.

  • Diabetic patients: Please bring all supplies with you to your appointment.

  • Females: If you have started menstruation you will be asked for a urine sample. Pregnancy waivers are also available.

After Your Surgery:

  • After you leave the operating room, you will be taken to the recovery room where you will be cared for by our trained staff and readied for your return home.

  • For your own safety, a responsible adult MUST drive you home.

  • Someone responsible should stay with you for the first 24 hours after surgery.

Special Tips:

  • If you have any problems, please contact your physician. You are also welcomed to call the facility if you are unable to reach your physician.

  • You will receive a telephone call after surgery, typically the next business day from one of our nurses, to inquire as to how you are feeling. If you have any concerns, please discuss them with the nurse.

  • Please limit one (1) guardian/person to accompany a patient into the facility. This person will need to stay on the premises for the duration of the surgery. Surgery times vary, but you can ask us for a time estimate. Recovery time is on average 30 minutes and added on after their surgical procedure is complete.

  • If there is a possibility that you are pregnant, please be sure to discuss this with your physician prior to surgery. Thank you for choosing River City Surgical Center!

How we can help with insurance and payments

As the ambulatory surgery center please remember we will be billing you for the facility and anesthesia services. We will bill for our services SEPERATELY than your dental office. If you have any questions regarding any of the proceeding information, please do not hesitate to call us at 208-887-2233, Ext 100. Our financial responsibility is found in our PATIENT PACKET.

Insurance Patients

One of our patient account representatives will contact you before your procedure. They will collect the necessary insurance coverage information to expedite the registration processing for you. If you have not heard from them within 48 hours of your procedure, please call us at 208-887-2233, Ext.100, and request someone to assist you in providing this information. As a courtesy to all our patients, we will file your insurance claim for you for the coverage of the routine equipment and supplies, pre-procedural services, routine drugs and anesthetics administered while in River City Surgical Center, procedural room time, and recovery charges. Standard outpatient procedures are generally covered by your medical insurance.

You will be asked for payment upon admission to River City Surgical Center, dependent upon your insurance coverage. We make every effort to advise you of the amount before your admission. If applicable, full payment for the deductible and co-insurance or co-pay is required upon admission at the time of service. River City Surgical Center will collect your estimated co-insurance or co-pay. The following forms of payment are accepted:

• MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and Visa credit cards are accepted.

• We also accept cash, cashier's checks, and money orders.

• Care Credit: Please call for details.

Non-insured Patients

One of our patient account representatives will contact you before your procedure. Costs are reviewed before your appointment since payment is collected on the admission date at the time of service. If you have not heard from them within 48 hours of your procedure, please call us at 208-887-2233, ext. 0 and request someone to assist you in providing this information. The following forms of payment are accepted:

• MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and Visa credit cards are accepted.

• We also accept cash, cashier's checks, and money orders.

• Care Credit: Please call for details.

Medicaid Insurance Patients

Medicaid insurance card must be present, and eligibility is verified on the admission date at the time of service. Medicaid does not require pre-authorization for services rendered at River City Surgical Center.
